The 3rd China-Pakistan Technology Transfer Matchmaking Workshop was Successfully Held in Kunming

On August 17, the 3rd China-Pakistan Technology Transfer Matchmaking Workshop was held in Kunming as one of the important side-line activity of the 4th Forum on China-South Asia Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation. During the Workshop, delegates conducted matchmaking and opinion exchanges on areas such as biotechnology and medicine, new and renewable energy, modern agriculture, information technology, new materials, climate change and etc., aimed to promote the high-quality development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and further enhance China-Pakistan scientific and technological innovation capabilities.


Ms. Wang Rongfang, First Counsel of Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology of China, H.E. Moin Ul Haq, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan to China and Mr. Song Guangxing, Deputy Director-General, Yunnan Province Science and Technology Department, attended and delivered speeches. More than 30 delegates from government, universities, research institutes and enterprises of Pakistan and more than 120 delegates from institutions of China attended the Workshop.


At the meeting, Dr. Ma Minxiang, Deputy Director -General & General Secretary of China-South Asia Technology Transfer Center, Deputy Director -General of Yunnan Provincial Academy of Science and Technology, Director -General of Yunnan Academy of Scientific and Technical Information(YASTI) delivered a keynote report, in which had introduced 3 topics: achievements of the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, support the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor by science and technology cooperation and the ideas and suggestions on deepening China-Pakistan scientific and technological cooperation.


Mr. Shehryar Raja, Deputy Scientific Advisor, Ministry of Science & Technology of Pakistan delivered a keynote report, in which introduced the advantages of resource, technology, organization and etc. of Pakistan. And introduced Pakistani research institutes, enterprise and organizations. To further promote China-Pakistan S&T cooperation, he introduced S&T innovative cooperation mode between China and Pakistan.


At the meeting, China-South Asia Technology Transfer Center and Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) signed a cooperation agreement on jointly building the Pakistan Sub-center of China-South Asia Technology Transfer Center. At the China-Pakistan Innovative Cooperation Pu’er Tea Party, more than 120 delegates from institutes, universities and enterprises of China and Pakistan participated the networking and matchmaking activities on areas such as smart agriculture, biotechnology, information technology, artificial intelligence, robots, advanced materials, equipment manufacturing, new energy and new materials, climate change and etc., during which, delegates conducted in-depth and detailed discussions on strategic cooperation needs and supply in various fields, and formed 29 intentions for cooperation projects.
