The two-storey modern dwelling can be built with cold-formed thin-walled steel structures(as bearing ) and crop straw bales(as walls), providing anti-seismic performance of dwellings and protecting the ecological environment in rural areas. The bearing structures and enclosure walls are all made of green materials, with anti-seismic and non-polluting properties. The people can build their own dwellings without large construction equipments in the guidance of civil engineers, with low cost(no more than 1000 Chinese Yuan per square meter). Thus the crop straw can be utilized to its maximum, avoiding the pollution of burning it. The construction techniques can be used to adding a second storey to a masonry house also.
